Blood and Bone (2009)

We learn quickly that Isaiah Bone (Michael Jai White) is not a man who puts up with much.  A gang lead by JC (Kimbo Slice) attempt to jump Bone in a prison washroom, but Bone quickly shuts down everyone.  We don't know why Bone had to do time, but soon he's out.  Bone takes a room in the house of Tamara (Nona Gaye).

Bone shows up at an underground street fight, catching the eye of promoter Pinball (Dante Basco).  After being victorious over Hammerman (Bob Sapp), James (Eamonn Walker) wants Bone to fight for him in a major underground fight.  James is a dangerous street hustler who doesn't realize that Bone has plans for him that involve justice for an old friend.

I guess the best way to describe this movie is as a modern blackploitation film.  In fact, I thought the appearance of actor Dick Anthony Williams, who appeared in 1970's blackploitation movies The Mack, and Slaughter's Big Rip Off, was a nice touch.  This is also a standard action film, but the fights are entertaining and often.  Michael Jai White is a veteran of these types of action films.  He also appeared in Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married, and it's sequel, Why Did I Get Married Too.  Bob Sapp, Gina Carano, and Kimbo Slice are well known in the world of MMA.
